Oh my! 'Any Synth' rounds are particularly difficult for me, since deciding which synth to use goes against my indecisive nature...

Would it help if I told you to choose... Rand?

The plan is as follows: 30 days to choose a synthesizer / 1 day per track in the "deadline" mode!

Damn it. I'll be crazy busy all month and I don't have a computer for awhile because I RMA'ed my CPU.

I'm in.

Ah yes!

Sound Designer - Soundsets for Pigments, Repro, Diva, Virus TI, Nord Lead 4, Serum, DUNE2, Spire, and others

Exciting :) Choosing between Arturia Pigments and Korg Prologue. I'll probably end up picking the Prologue. Hopefully I have enough time this month to complete a track.

Hm, another 185 entries round (exaggerated).

Questions:
  • What if somebody chose a multi-engine synth and chose to use a nice preset ... only to find it is based on a "sample"?
Many synths nowadays use "samples" in their factory presets Synthmaster, Avenger, Parawave, Serum, you name it.
  • In a previous round sbdy used a waveshaper - are these now in the canon of allowed fx?

?

"Distortion: Please use distortion / tape saturation / bit crushing sparingly. Use your best judgement. Try to keep the original sound recognizable. Note that this does not apply if the distortion is built in to the synth."

So, what about HG Fortune synthesizers :?: They use banks of sf2 samples, in which various complex synthesized sounds are recorded. The principle is similar to K1v, but unlike it, much more synthesis and modulation takes place inside HGF synths.
I just don't want to make a track and then find out that someone is against it :!:

K1v was a special case. I think in the usual case sf2 (samples) aren't allowed.

What are you saying? that they are incapable of knowing a sample engine is involved in the patch LOL

note: sorry Peter i was thinking specifically of Pigments, i don't know why. It isn't so ridiculous if i think about Serum instead of Pigments.

Thank you for opinion, Spring Goose! In a sense, Any synth is also a special case, but I don't insist)
So, a few more opinions :?:
