Is this possible? I would really like this to be used from a hardware controller though if that can be done.

Sorry to bump, but I've searched the docs and can't find any reference to this. Is there any way to achieve this? Does tap tempo even exist in MuLab? Seems weird not to.

No, MuLab has no tap tempo func yet.
Iirc there is a note about it on the long wishlist.
