MIDI controller assignments, saved as a template?

I've been a T user since the early days, but since coming back from Logic I've found a few hurdles. I'm not embarrassed to ask a new-starter question. Any pointers appreciated!

So, I have had a homemade iPad TouchOsc template working wonderfully in W10 free via MIDI CC's/touchOSC bridge. (32 MIDI CC faders controlling track 1-8 volumes, 8 Komplete Kontrol knobs (plus buttons for pages) and 16 Guitar Rig macros. All good and working as expected.

However, saving the edit as a template or track preset means that on a new template/track preset load, all those handcrafted controls for the W10 tracks and GR6 macros have gone (but Komplete Kontrol's are still there, which I assume writes the CC assignments at a host-independent plugin level). Downloaded and tried out Reaper - can't bear the UI, but the MIDI assignments all work and save over there. Is it perhaps a Rosetta/bridge issue on my M1 Mac?

What am I missing? How do I go about saving this MIDI controller assignment setup as a starting point for all future projects?
