Weirdest thing, but is it possibly to use modulation to alter velocities?

I want to use a parameter to multiply (or modulate) note velocities before going into some vsti.

[Event Input 1] -> [Note to Modulation]:velocity -> [Modulation Mapper] -> ??? (modify event) -> [Vsti Event Input]

Couldn't quite figure out, if there's a module that does that (???). I sometimes overlook things...just ask my wife and me with the fridge.

Few weeks ago I tried to achieve random velocity value with every note on but failed so I thought it's impossible. I would also like to know a workaround for this.

Post

No such option yet. I think the Note Modifier module is the most logical candidate to be upgraded to feature that functionality.

Post

Absolutely! And it would be pretty brilliant!

Recently I'm working a lot with sample libraries and there are a number of things I can see as immensely powerful to have. This would certainly be one of them!

I should stop by the "wishlist" thread again! :hyper:

You can acheive this by using the attached Mux, place before your vst, there may be other ways.
Need to play about with it see if it can be used for Tarons.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Fantastic creativity using the existing modules, thx for sharing bibz1st :tu:

That's nice, I should've thought about that. It may work for percussive type sounds but it's not very useful for longer, sustained sounds like pads.

Looks like you can just swap the Randomiser module for the Parameter Event Generator and it should work how Taron wants.
Thanks Jo, its not too big a workaround.

Hmm youre right, needs more thought.

Not ideal but decrease the Steps/Beat to 1 and increase the grid to 32 gives a bit more time.

I've taken note anyway about upgrading the Note Modifier, though it will be after M9.0 release as the M9.0 release should not be delayed any longer than strictly necessary. (for good reasons)

Oh, man, I totally missed out on the 9 beta... :o
...gotta look up what treasures you've put in there and can't wait to use it! :hyper:

Haha, I thought about using the step sequencer, too, but dismissed it for the complication it would represent to what I wish to achieve. Still a really smooth move to do this and share it, too! Thank you, great job! :tu:

No problem, a dedicated option would be better.
