Feature#1 - Magnetic Cursor
Even though I can move the end or start of a clip to the cursor position easily in Waveform (which moves the whole clip), it's not a piece of cake to drag one edge of the clip to the exact cursor position with keeping the other edge in position. I'm doing this manually by editing the start or end position numbers in the properties panel to conform with the cursor position numbers. While it works but it's not convenient. I haven't found a way in Waveform 11.5 to snap the clips to the cursor. A magnetic cursor can save a lot of time and effort. This feature is so much needed especially in the markers track.
Another important note is the fact that clips snap to each other only in the same track or horizontally, but so often I find myself trying to snap a clip edge to an upper or lower clip in a vertical way. Again I'm doing this in 2 steps by locating the edge of the upper clip then moving the lower clip to the cursor. I wish there is a way for snapping to be enabled in a vertical way.
Feature#2 - Moving the Zero Position in the Ruler Forward
So often I move all the contents of my projects forward a bit to have some silent time before starting to play or record. As a guitarist I need to have extra time to prepare my self for recording. Doing this in Waveform means the project won't start from the zero point on the ruler. If the there is a way to add minus time before zero that would be great. I want to move my contents and having them starting from the zero position at the same time.
Question
How can I add a marker to fill a range directly without the need to drag its edges to the range limits?
Same question for the other types of clips.

Presently there's no way to move the cursor or place a clip prior to 00:00:00. This is a long-requested feature that is well-supported by basic music theory, the need to put program change and other control information into a project prior to starting playback (important when working with hardware that has multiple banks that need to load up in a specific way), compatibility with 99% of sheet music software that allows for partial measures so that complex scores all agree on what bar it is, and of course for cues and other markers for live performances or recording sessions.
I don't know why Waveform doesn't have it, and why it wasn't added in versions ago. It's kind of a big deal, and workarounds are uncomfortable.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but marker and MIDI clips will fill the space of the in and out markers.No_Man_Land wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:22 pm Question

Surely there must be consensus by now...

And as a quick shortcut, I put the mouse where I want the marked range to start and type i. Then I zip the mouse to where I want it to end and type o. Instant marked range.

Note that this only works if you have "Enable separate edit cursor" turned on. You can fill a range with Audio, Edit, MIDI, and step clips directly, EXCEPT for the Marker clips!! I couldn't find a way to do that. It makes sense to fill a verse/chorus/bridge/intro/outro range with a marker clip directly without the need to drag the edges to the exact positions.pough wrote: Tue Mar 29, 2022 12:01 am

Until the developers add this feature I have to live with the current situation.

Huh. I swear I tested it before posting and it worked. Now that I test it again, it doesn't work. Sorry about that. You're right. It doesn't expand to fit the in/out markers and it should.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

"Minus time", or before zero time, would be very useful for syncing hardware that requires a MIDI clock.
Linux version?
