Pitch bend automation shifts notes on playback

anyone else have this issue? If i have an instrument where, at some point in song, i recorded some pitch-bend, then once that automation is in the clip, depending on where I stop playback, hitting play again (at any point in the song, including the beginning) can cause the instrument to be out of tune, as if the pitch bend got stuck. This carries over into rendering an export file as well. I always have to click on the instrument before playback, and physically touch my midi controller pitch wheel to "reset" the pitch in the instrument's mind. ...oh and this happens with any VST instrument (i've had this occur with all sorts of instrument plugins across various songs)
i'm using Waveform 11 Pro (Waveform Version 11.5.18)

As far as I can recall, it has always been like this. A bit annoying, but it makes sense. You tell it the position of the pitch bend and it believes you. If you want it to go back to the middle, you need to put it back to the middle. Seems to work the same in Reaper, too.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I always blamed the plugin for this!
I created a preset clip with nothing in it except a PB = 0 instruction, and place that at the end of any bend-heavy clips and the start of that track just to reset it. I only use it when that problem gets persistent or annoying.

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

yeah, this would be a nice bug fix if possible. it "makes sense" in terms of why it happens, but i fail to see how it's useful. the pitch bend should only apply to the points where the bend occurs in the automation line, and the program should always snap back to normal when not playing that sectionpough wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 8:36 pm As far as I can recall, it has always been like this. It's not a bug; it's pretty much the spec. This is how it works in Waveform. It's how it works in Reaper. It's how it works in FL Studio. From searches, it seems to also work the same way in Live and Logic. The only DAW I could find that seems to automatically reset pitch bend is Studio One.jonatello wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 4:52 pm yeah, this would be a nice bug fix if possible. it "makes sense" in terms of why it happens, but i fail to see how it's useful. the pitch bend should only apply to the points where the bend occurs in the automation line, and the program should always snap back to normal when not playing that section
I might also like to have this feature added, but it might have unintended consequences. Some plugins will remap MIDI data. For example, pitch bend might turn on or off a Leslie effect in an organ plugin. To have that data fire automatically might conflict with something you have set up.

Yeah I shouldn't have called it a bug, wrong term. I just mean it would be great if they could solve that quirk without breaking stuff, but you might be right about there not being a way to thread that needlepough wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 6:52 pmIt's not a bug; it's pretty much the spec.
