I'm trying to use MDrumLever in Reaper to trigger a MIDI instrument but I can't get it to output MIDI. Here's what I'm doing:

I have a track with an audio drum loop on it. I have MDrumLeveler inserted as an effect. In the attached image you can see my settings in MDrumLeveler. I have MIDI output enabled. I have ReaControlMIDI inserted after MDrumLeveler and the log section shows no MIDI data coming from MDrumLeveler (see other attached image).

What am I doing wrong? (In case it's relevant, this is the demo version)

Pretty sure you'll need to enable ReaControlMIDI, looking at that it's doing nothing right now.

Thanks—not sure what you mean by 'enable', but the reason it's doing nothing is that it's not receiving any MIDI data. The 'log' section on the right gives a real time list of incoming MIDI messages—at the moment it's not receiving any.

Just figured this out—I was using the AU version of MDrumleveler. AU plugins don't support MIDI out (or at least in Reaper they don't). With the VST3 version, the above setup produces MIDI notes.

FYI you need to click in the Control Change enable button, also set what you want to control and how.
I don't use AU in Reaper, vst is the way to go. That's odd it doesn't pass midi, luckily plenty of ways to route things in Reaper.

Please do NOT use AU unless you really have to (Logic), that's the problem.
