i was thinking of switching to a roli seaboard but then i found out that fl studio doesnt support mpe controllers ... is there a way to map functions like slide from the seaboard controller to some midi cc in fl studio otherwise i would have to switch to ableton live
... or maybe they will implement this feature in their next update

I would say that it won't be a problem to you to record MPE, if FL supports multi-channel midi recording. Only problem you'll have is if you try to edit your performance, then it will become quite hard to follow. But I haven't even tried FL in ages, so someone else would know better. MPE controller commands are just a regular midi messages, they're just utilized differently by the instruments that can know what to do with them.

Talked to the FL guys at Superbooth about this. They were very adamant that MPE will not be included in FL Studio 21 or any future update. Instead, they are directly going for MIDI 2.0. While technically this should work with MPE controllers like the seaboard, given that MIDI 2.0 also supports polyphonic bitchbend, slide and aftertouch, it remains to be seen if it actually will work. If you're planning on working with the seaboard for a while you're probably better off with just about any other DAW, like Ableton, Bitwig, Cubase or Logic, all of which support MPE.

I'd like some of that
On a more serious note, I agree with IL, it's probably better to go straight to MIDI 2.0, since MPE was always a bit of a stopgap solution. It's probably going to take a long time until it's implemented though. If MPE is important to you, it might be better to switch to another DAW that already has full support.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Of those 4, Cubase and Bitwig have complete MPE implementations.jules99 wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 5:23 pmIf you're planning on working with the seaboard for a while you're probably better off with just about any other DAW, like Ableton, Bitwig, Cubase or Logic, all of which support MPE.
Ableton is incomplete because it does not record the midi channel for each note. Then upon playback, it auto-round robins between midi channels. There are scenarios where what you play and what plays back will not be the same.
Editing per note pitch data in Logic is a pain because it is not in semitones and not right on the note like Bitwig and Cubase.

Yea, the attitude ive seen from mods on the imageline forums has so far been that mpe is a useless gimmick that will never catch. If it does catch, I can't imagine FL Studio wont implement it, but i expect Fl Studio will be one of the last DAWs to support it.

What do you mean by catch? It is already widely supported by hundreds of soft-synths and a fair number of hardware synths (number growing all the time), every major DAW and there are plenty of controllers to choose from.wilkins_micawber wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 12:40 am Yea, the attitude ive seen from mods on the imageline forums has so far been that mpe is a useless gimmick that will never catch. I have as much MPE capability as i could wish for and its awesome! Waited for 20 years for something like that to come along! MPE has arrived already.

And perhaps 1% of all DAW users making really use out of it... hardly a showstopper for a DAW developer...pdxindy wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 1:24 amWhat do you mean by catch? For sure... at best that 1% might grow to 2-3% over time. MPE is never gonna be a huge thing cause it takes skill to use. That's fine too. Like I said, I'm satisfied with the state of MPE development. I already fulfill my own MPE interests without limitation.Trancit wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:07 am And perhaps 1% of all DAW users making really use out of it... hardly a showstopper for a DAW developer...![]()
I understand that FL Studio wouldn't support it cause their focus and speciality is on pianoroll construction, not realtime playing.

For me MPE is still more a thing for live performances while I do understand that people like to use it in a DAW too...pdxindy wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 12:42 pmFor sure... at best that 1% might grow to 2-3% over time. For me I love the ability to do pitch slides with the MPE options in i.e. Bitwig but I do not have any other need/usecase of/for it...
The people at IL are very very busy to improve as many aspects of FL Studio as they can in the shortest amount of time as claims getting more and more and there are huge changes coming in the next weeks, months and years...
It started with a new browser, will reach over huge changes to audio clips up to cool plugins and many workflow improvements like finally "paste to cursor" like already shown in the last 2 beta versions...
I guess MPE was just not important enough to make it under the "top 10" so to speak...

you can ask them about .clap supports too the response will be similar ( https://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=280128 ) nothing
personally I'm hyped about it
fingers crossed, I'm already big fan of Hive in ... Bitwig

- Urs viewtopic.php?p=8439443#p8439443We're going to release CLAP betas of ACE and Hive with polyphonic parameter modulation in a few weeks, then port everything else. Diva, Bazille and Repro will certainly get polyphonic modulation as well.

The Bitwigs have done already a lot right in the past and this is a good example for this too...xbitz wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 7:29 pm you can ask them about .clap supports too the response will be similar ( https://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=280128 ) nothing

U-He always belonged to the innovative anyway and it´s nice to see that they maintain that way...
I am a big fan of alternative plugin formats anyway as I don´t like Steinbergs position of power on the whole plugins sector...
Image Line do not have any chance to compete with newer techs atm anyway as they still fight to catch up with what others invented in the last decade so there isn´t a way atm to adapt newer tech
