I know VST3 has been requested a lot but UHE and BitWig have announced their new format - CLAP. I know this has been mentioned before.

Maybe MuLab can join forces with BitWig and UHE and we can get all plugin makers to get on board.

I can appreciate that host developers don't want the headache of another plugin standard..but CLAP does sound pretty compelling.

I'll surely have a deep look at CLAP.

It looks as though quite a few big names could be joining in. Would be so nice to an actual single standard that works for everyone.

Just in case you haven't seen it, there's a good discussion going on about this on here. Looks like many of the top dsp developers are on board: viewtopic.php?t=583138

I'm interested in CLAP support. Open standards FTW!

CLAP > VST3 (clap is greater than VST3)

It looks like there's some controversy on forums about CLAP not letting the user select where they install pluggins (like vst3 does). I personally like to install where I want, not C drive. But there will be ways around it I'm sure and if Waves joined the party then that would solve that inconvenience for us Mulab users. :tu:

You can of course always use a symlink to move the CLAP (or VST3) plugin folder wherever you want. With CLAP it's also possible to use CLAP_PATH environment variable to notify installers (which should read this variable) where the CLAP path is.

Portable installations are important for me. I've already installed akai's MPC Software and dislike having to do that! The lack of portability in software is enough for me to find alternatives.

So that's fine. You can still have portable installations, of course. Just make a symlink at C:\Program Files\Common Files\ that targets your portable destination, name that symlink CLAP, and it's all gonna work.
