Waveform Free Won't Open

I have Waveform 11 free and whenever I try to open it, it loads for a couple of seconds but doesn't open. If I open task manager, it shows up for the same amount of time and then completely disappears. I have to restart my computer whenever I want to re-open it which can get really annoying. Is there a fix to this?

It sounds like it's trying to load your last project(s) but can't. I've tried to locate where the list of project files to open on start-up is located, but I haven't found it yet.

There is a logfile which should explain the failure to load. In Windows it is located at
c://Users/YerName/AppData/Roaming/Tracktion/Waveform/Temporary

and will be called Waveform11Log.txt or something like that.

You can open it in NotePad and read through it. It will tell you what it's trying to do and what worked and what didn't. The Tracktion devs will often ask you to send it to them if there's a problem.

When I open it and it actually opens there is a longer log but when I try to open it and then it doesn't, this is what I get:

That's a lot missing and it doesn't seem to say a lot. Perhaps the next chunk you get when it does open might give some clues about what isn't happening. The next part on mine is some settings for ASIO and then some for DSOUND. I'll paste in the next lines in mine up to where it gets personal. No idea if it's going to provide any clues.

Interesting.

I've looked in my Program FIles folder. There are folders within for Waveform 8, Waveform 9, and Waveform 10. But not Waveform 11 or Waveform 12. The Waveform 10 folder contain the SOUL_PatchLoader.dll.

My Program Files folder does contain a folder called Tracktion, and within that one are folders Waveform 11 and Waveform 12. Within each of those two the SOUL_PatchLoader.dll exists.

I note your Programs folder is on your D drive and is called Programs rather than Program Files. Check that the SOUL_PatchLoader.dll exists within the Waveform 11 folder.

If it does not, make sure the Waveform 11 folder exists (create it if not) and then see if you can find a file called SOUL_PatchLoader.dll and copy it into that folder. The size of the file in Waveform 11 and Waveform 12 is 40,805,888 bytes.

I had the same problem in Waveform 12 free. Tried everything: uninstall, download manager etc. Log was stuck on initialising:

I could not make it work until I renamed the folder :

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Tracktion\Waveform

obliging the software to re-setup and so recreate that folder.
