Recording Live Insturment Issue

When I try recording live insturments I can see the audio being generated but when I stop recording it disappears like I hit "abort". To get it back I have to click the generate clips from previously captured audio. Any idea what setting I might have changed to cause this to happen and what do I need to do to get this working the way it should be again?

Possibly...
select the track. Make sure you have the "full useful information panel" open at the bottom of the screen.
It is enabled with the UP-arrow, lower left corner of the screen.
Click on the box on the left that has the name of the device you are recording from.
Now in the bottom panel, there is a drop-down for record Mode - overlay, replace, or "don't record from this device". You definitely don't want that last one.
If that wasn't it, there may be other options that only show up when that "useful mode" panel is open.
PS - if you have real-estate available on screen, keep that panel open. It changes based on what is selected (track, clip, input, VST, etc) and has a WEALTH of useful information on what is selected. Many of us believe it should be open by default, unless you specifically hide it; unfortunately it defaults to hidden mode; particularly for new users who NEED it the most !
