When I record in Waveform (11 free or 12 free), the recording starts where I had my cursor, but as soon as I stop recording, the clip is automatically trimmed to remove the silence at the beginning of the clip. It works very similarly for punch in recordings.
This would be OK, but it makes the clips hard to align as they never start exactly on beat, and more importantly, tiny bits of my recordings are always missing in the beginning resulting in an unnatural jump-cut feeling.
The source recordings (in the project files) are the already trimmed version.
Just to clear it up, I always place my cursor 1 bar before the moment the actual playing should start so that I capture everything, even if the first sound is slightly before beat.
How do I solve this? Ideally no automatic trimming at all.
This is an example of what I get
[SOLVED] Recording gets trimmed automatically

This is an option setting. I can't recall exactly where, but I'm pretty sure it's called "remove silence at beginning."
It's designed to cut noise floor out of noisy recording spaces, but obviously that doesn't help you.
Until you locate that setting, though, I fix it by dragging a blank audio clip onto the track, putting it at the exact start where I want it, then stretch it over the recorded portion. Select both clips, and select "merge." I do this when trimming recordings to get rid of mic noise, bumps, clicks, or other sounds, and sometimes that puts me in your situation.

Thanks, although I did not find the option you mentioned, you inspired me to go through all of the settings once again (couple times actually) and I found separate settings for every input device and every input device has a "trigger level" which was showing -INF, but the slider was higher than 0 for my device. When I moved the slider to the minimum, it was showing -INF again and this time when I record silence, it does not get trimmed.Watchful wrote: Sun Sep 11, 2022 1:26 pm This is an option setting. For anybody wondering: Settings > Audio Devices > Your input in the "Channels:" list > Trigger Level in the bottom panel

Weirdly, I can't seem to find it either, but I'm glad you got that sorted out in a better way. I didn't even know about your solution!
