Hey all,
I try working with the new release of 12 Free. 12.1.3 But every time I play a track and then stop playing it, it will crash, giving me an error that the audio engine crashed. at some other times it will give me an error that there is another instances running and to make sure they are also stopped before restarting 12.
I have re down loaded and re installed several times with no luck. SO I went back to 11 and I am running windows 10.
any help will be much appreciated

albeham9, does it work in Windows 10? I am encountering the same issues at Windows 11 and WF12 Free, MIDI clips work good but when I work with audio clips I get these "audio engine crashed" errors (sometimes every opening the project!).

You can read the error log. It might have some more information. (Settings -> Maintenance)
The most common cause of crashes is certain plugins. Does WF crash even without any 3rd party plugins? You might test by either adding or removing plugins until you find the one that causes the crashes (if that's the problem.)
Sometimes when a program crashes it actually stays running. Use the Task Manager to find them and "End Task" to shut them down.

Well, here it comes again... I stopped using Linux for the very same reason - having to chase issues, debug programs and read through logs instead of doing the real work, have wasted so many hours doing that stuff.
The issue happened when I double-clicked the audio clip.
I have removed the BiasFX plugin but the issue popped up again in the same scenario.

There are probably ways to investigate .dmp files, but I don't know about it. I used the wrong terms. Open the Log File. It's in plain text.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

It's definitely an odd one. I don't recall hearing of it happening before. Sounds like some kind of low-level conflict to me - video driver or audio driver or basic program libraries... But it's so difficult to say. To be honest, I thought you had given up and moved on to Bitwig (I would recommend StudioOne over Bitwig for guitarists, FWIW).
Was there anything at all in the Log File?
Are there any edits that can be stopped safely? Like a fresh edit with absolutely nothing in it?
For me, this kind of issues leads to testing to try to find out what's causing the problem - add something, test; remove something, test; change a setting, test... and that's something that only the person who's experiencing the problem can do. Unfortunately this isn't a common problem where we've seen if before and can just tell you to "press the WORK BETTER button." I can point you to the advanced settings and say maybe changing GUI Rendering Mode or Realtime Priority Mode, but those are wild guesses. We're flying blinder than you. We have no idea what your system or settings are like.

It will not crash when I stop the play back outside the audio clip while still in the track box.
It happens only when when I have am still following the audio clip within the track window where the audio is shown.
Thanks for the ideas, that's what I have been doing .

OMG.. Audio setting sample rate was too small... I had it for the lowest but when I gave it some headroom at 64 samples..more better.. I over looked it.. My pain is your gain...

Glad you got that sorted out!
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.
