Softube Central has to be the buggiest download manager

I hate it when I see updates in Softube Central as it's always a lottery as to whether they will get installed properly. Today I have 33 updates, started 'Update all' but straight away the download just failed for several. I stopped most of them thinking maybe if I reduce the bandwidth a bit but now it can't even install one that it has downloaded and is stuck on trying to find its helper app. This is a common occurance. Also it doesn't seem to see any of my licenses on the iLok. This is such a horrible and useless app!
btw never set it to automatically activate products either - it always activates them to the hard drive even if you have them on an iLok. So you end up with everything activated twice.

I always thought the UVI one was great. I own almost everything they make and nothing I can't download.seangm wrote: Mon Oct 03, 2022 1:57 am Nah the UVI download manager has that one beat. It won't even let me download any of my purchased products, what a piece of crap.

I've also had ton of problems with their softube central. Today I installed my many plugins, and then ended up with the no licenses found message. Clearly ilok has the licenses, but the manager just flat out sucks, and has for many years now. They need a better developer over that particular code! ASAP

Just wanted to chime in so they will hopefully address the issues... It's still horrible!

Yeah Softube and the UVI one are fargging terrible. For UVI I download directly from the site but for Softube we're stuck with that hideousness unfortunately.

Unfortunately I downloaded the installers (without Softube central), but it's not working and buggy. Support also had me install the "installer helper," but things still aren't working correctly.

chiming in here. I have been complaining about their Softube Central and their "helper" since its inception. Really bad software. I have experience with what to do when the helper fails to work / login, but still, the very installer is extremely slow. Yes, it works. But it's back to 1990, meaning I can watch the most of an entire movie while waiting for this. Softube really are useless in this sense. Yes, I like many of their plugins. I actually own 39 of them. But I am not buying any more, and I am not even considering their consoles. Mainly because of their installer. Also, to add insult to injury, the have absolutely no interest in letting us choose which formats to install. So we get all the vst2 and aax junk, which we need to manually remove after.

I haven't had a lot of trouble installing things from it, but I have issues for sure. At times it is slower than using a web browser, in which case I go to the site to download the most recent versions. I doubt .97 does something .89 doesn't on my system but I don't know. Right now, having scrubbed everything but the plugins from my drive it went from fairly snappy to stuck at 0% so it's back to the web browser. The only plus side to them is this, at least the downloaders are stored there. Unlike Native Access, and unlike Vienna Assistant.
Their support I have one experience with, today I heard back regarding my issue. There are things in ILok LM that are machine-activations with no options otherwise. This is not an iLok problem. Support told me to address this in Softube Central which has no such capability. They didn't read my question or they have a reading disability. And they don't understand their own application.
And using that thing is a nightmare. I don't think I've ever had it open without having to deal with Softube Helper. SC prompts me to delete this - first of all there is no such file, it's an uninstaller app - even when there is no such uninstaller to be found, I've already done this step. BTW it's found with all the other uninstallers in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Softube.
The only remedy for this is find the installer for Helper at their site.
Mac
Windows
I can put up with the installer's retardation, but I'm totally not comfortable having only machine activations and there doesn't appear to be any help for it. In which case I certainly will never buy from them again. At this point I don't think there is any use for Softube Central at all, I'd rather go to the site and check for an update, as meaningful as this is or isn't going to be.

Yeah, hate to tell you but you'll need to delete Softube Central and clear out everything but say the presets and the plugins.nickfever wrote: Tue Oct 08, 2024 11:59 pm Unfortunately I downloaded the installers (without Softube central), but it's not working and buggy. EDIT: I should report this, in fairness. While my initial experience with their support got me nowhere, I'm going to go with 50% on me, too verbose, confusing my main issue which is <what's in iLok makes no sense>. It doesn't because in creating an account (I never had before recent acquisitions) inadvertently an iLok account w. same name as my email was created as well.
And she's going to go move those licenses to the account I use. Weirdly here are machine activations at one User ID and non-activated licenses with potential activations at another for the same products.
This is something that should be known about iLok and accounts: the email doesn't have to be tied to the "User ID". The email may be changed but the particular User ID is set for all of time. (You can only change the email on the site, not in LM.) So there can be two User IDs for the one email but not vice versa.
