Anyone using MuLab 9.0.55 Plugin in Tracktion Waveform Pro 12?

Good day. I'm unable to get my MIDI keyboard to play when using the MuLab 9.0.55 Plugin in Tracktion Waveform Pro 12. The exact same MuLab Plugin project works when I use it in Unify, so I am very confused. I have my MIDI Keyboard loaded as the input in Tracktion Waveform but nothing plays in MuLab plugin, which is loaded in Track 1. Does anyone have Tracktion Waveform Pro 12 and able to get MIDI input to work in Mulab Plugin? I very much prefer the modular approach in MuLab vs the Tracktion Waveform Rack, which is very basic by comparison, so wanted to use Mulab Plugin for more complex racks. Any assistance will be very much appreciated. I have gone through the manual, tried various trial-and-error approaches but still get no MIDI input into Mulab Plugin in Tracktion Waveform Pro 12.

Are any other VSTs working with MIDI Input in Tracktion for you?

I downloaded Waveform Demo and tested - MuLab Plugin works fine. I remember having similar problem before - the reason was that MuLab's default "New Synth" template had no "Project MIDI Input" within. If this is the case - add VST MIDI Input, connect to the mux and save/overwrite your "New Synth" template:

P.S. Do the same with the "New Composer" template.

Hi @pljones and @robert_p. Thanks for the prompt response. @robert_p, This was one of the things I tried but it still wouldn't work / register MIDI input. @pljones Every single VST Synth, Instrument, etc. I use works as it should in Tracktion Waveform Pro 12 - it's only MuLab Plugin that doesn't register MIDI input. I'm running MuLab Plugin 9.0.5.4 and Tracktion Waveform Pro 12.1.3 (both the latest versions available, as far as I'm aware). @robert_p, I created a copy of your example above but this also didn't work. Really wanting this to work but cannot figure out what the issue is. :-( It works when I run the playhead and have MIDI or Audio clips inserted but cannot get it to work as a normal synth, with MIDI input.

Interesting. Can you try to place the attached template into your "User Templates" folder and then use MuLab's "Open Template" menu to open it while the plugin is loaded to your waveform? Does it make any sound?

Thanks a lot, @robert_p - really appreciate your help. It is working now. I like the Unify project you created in the Pluginguru forum. I wanted to check one more thing with you - is there a way to be able to switch between Unify presets without opening up Unify in Mulab (or have a small static screen of Unify embedded into the front panel? I don't know of a way but you know Mulab well, so just wanted to check.

I don't think there is a easy way of doing that (as far as I know, Unify doesn't expose any "preset change" parameter to the host). There is a "Changing patches with MIDI" functionality - to make it work you'd need a "Program Change Generator" plugin (PizMIDI or similar) and link it to MuLab's macro knob.

Awesome, @robert_p - will give this a try.

And about Waveform, just a question. Is it generally stable with you ? I tried Waveform free some weeks ago and I had many crashes by using some VST instruments, with only 2 tracks I had to restart many times. On the contrary MuLab and S1 are very very stable for me. So I uninstalled Waveform. It's a shame as the workflow is not common to other DAW and I liked it ...

waveform 12 is super stable on Ubuntu. Not sure for other distros.

Hi @Costa33.

I find Tracktion Waveform Pro 12 to be very stable. Only plugin I have issues with is Captain Plugins, as it doesn't display correctly in Tracktion Waveform 12 or Unify. Some VST3 plugins don't always work, so I use the VST plugin instead (and vice versa) but otherwise I haven't had any issues with it.
