"Show All Takes"/ "+" Sign Disappeared?

Not quite sure what happened, but my little "+" sign that should be at the bottom right hand corner of each clip has disappeared -I have no way of expanding my takes, now... I can clearly see the ghost image of the second take underneath the first one -I can hear it, as well... But, can't split them!
If it's not clear what I'm talking about, it can be seen at min 3:14 in this vid from Zane:
If there is a ctrl command that would bee cool, too, but I swear it used to be there...
Help?

Hmmm. Just tried to record multiple takes and I now have the + there. I wonder how I might make it not happen...
Have you tried further multiple takes? I did a one bar loop to see if I got the +. Might be worth doing a test to see if the + appears. Perhaps also close and reopen Waveform.
I did update Waveform from 12.1.3 to 12.1.8 and retest (For some reason, the update manager didn't install 12.1.8 like it said it was doing).

Were you in "loop mode" when you did this -Or were you just tracking regularly; start recording, stop, then record again and just having the tracks overlap eachother as normal??jabe wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 12:22 pm Hmmm. I was in loop mode. I placed in and out markers, set the loop button on, put the cursor just before the in marker and set it to record. Then warbled while it looped, and stopped after either a few times through or once when it was nearly twice, to see if that might cause the failure.tmaworks wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 1:28 pmWere you in "loop mode" when you did this -Or were you just tracking regularly; start recording, stop, then record again and just having the tracks overlap eachother as normal??jabe wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 12:22 pm Hmmm. Okay, cool. Yes. thank you. Yes -Everybody is telling me that the little "+" sign is only visible in loop mode. So, I guess that's where my problem lies... Thank you...jabe wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 11:55 pmI was in loop mode. I placed in and out markers, set the loop button on, put the cursor just before the in marker and set it to record. -How do you feel about tracking Waveform, overall?? I started to get above the 40 track count (drum kit with 11 mics) today and it started to "sputter"/ "glitch"/ stall on me a bit during tracking. Unacceptable. Switched over to Reaper and no such issues...
As much as I hate it, I might have to delegate tracking to Reaper and perhaps some editing and stuff in Waveform... Just doesn't feel stable for really heavy tracking... Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Wrong setting somewhere?? Buffer size? Sheesh... Who knows!

Not exactly. The little "+" sign only shows up when clips have been combined into a comped clip. That happens by default (for audio) when you are recording in looped mode. You can also create a comped clip from individual clips. Once you have a comp clip, it will always show the little "+" even if you're no longer in loop mode.tmaworks wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 11:59 pm Everybody is telling me that the little "+" sign is only visible in loop mode.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

If I'm just tracking (NOT loop tracking) and the clips are just stacking on top of one another -literally overlapping/ sandwiched on top of one another -Is there a way to select all of those and "burst" them all onto individual tracks?

Not unless they're already group, otherwise Waveform assumes you wanted them to overlap. I believe this will be a manual process. You could combine them into a group and then burst them, I believe, but that won't save a lot of time.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Thank you so much!
Starting to understand how this things works...
Thank you.

You could select them all (which isn't going to be easy if they're all overlapping), group them a track at a time, track by track, only to burst them.
Or you could create a boatload of tracks and just drag them all to where you want them to go. That's probably as fast if not faster.

1 -Yes, was tough to select them all (the clips) as they were over-lappingWatchful wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 2:02 pm You could select them all (which isn't going to be easy if they're all overlapping), group them a track at a time, track by track, only to burst them.

2. Basically, that is what I did -I did two takes of the 11 mic'd drum kits (so, 22 "clips" overall) and then I dragged the ones on top each to their own new track -So I created 11 new tracks to drag them onto. I didn't mind doing this, BUT -The only con to tracking in this way (just letting the takes pile on top of each other) was that I could HEAR the previous take underneath what i was tracking, which I thought was odd. I'm used to my DAW, I guess just "muting" the previous take while I'm tracking the new one, but whatever... I think there is a way to set this up in Waveform, no?? -It doesn't look like I'm gonna be doing any big multi tracking in Waveform, as it's getting "sputtery" on me for no apparent reason (12), but whatever... I do like the what I've seen with it for editing -Very nice in that regard Waveform is...

With LOOP turned on you won't hear previous takes. Going forward, you won't have any issues here, only more opti9ns.
By dragging previous clips to new tracks, of course, you will hear the other takes...so you will likely want to mute any tracks you'll find distracting.
Or, hey, treat 'em as doubles and use them as a parallel track with different EQ and effects!

Can I pause looping mode?? Sometimes I want a little break in-bewteen takes -Like, for longer songs...

Hmm. Don't know. In fact, that would have been really useful today.
Anybody know? Might need to experiment.

I do not see that there is any PAUSE button or ctrl command for pausing -Essentially, it doesn't look like you can pause in Waveform...Watchful wrote: Sat Nov 05, 2022 10:46 pm Hmm. Don't know. In fact, that would have been really useful today.

I suppose a way to get around this would be to make the loop clip a bit longer -Like, extend it way out past the end of your clip so that you'd have some time to rest. Still though -Not ideal...
