Zebra2 in Reaper / Notes changing each time a key is hit

Hello. Newbie goodness here. I’ve been using Zebra2 in Reaper with an Alesis Q49 MIDI keyboard controller via USB input.

Many of the presets like “HS Exobells” seem to randomly choose a different note each time I press a new key even if I’m hitting the same key I played right before. In other words I could hit the C key then the E key and back to the same C key but it is a completely different note. I can also hit the same key repeatedly and each time I fully lift off the key and restrike it I’m getting another note.

Any ideas what’s causing this seemingly random shift in notes? I’ve tried to tweak some of the settings in the OSC etc but I honestly have no grasp on what most of those settings mean or do.

Is there a way to force the preset to play the note actually struck on the keyboard?

Or if It’s a sequence, how to have the sequence restart with the new note struck.

Any leads on tutorials etc would be appreciated but if someone know an easy quick fix to this or even a bit of education on what is happening so I can understand and learn how to fix it myself would be great.

Can you check if your copy of Zebra2 is registered and not just in demo mode? Zebra's demo mode causes random notes after about 20 minutes of usage. Load a fresh instance of Zebra2 and the randomness is gone for another 20 minutes.
See if your name shows up in the data display at the top when you load a new instance, or if it says "demo mode".

Yes! I’m in demo mode!

I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what was happening and thought I was losing my mind.

I’m on a ridiculously tight budget and aM trying to get away with free VSTi only but it may be time to pay the Zebra.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I’m so relieved to have figured out what’s been happening!
