Cannot see piano midi as it records.

New user here...
When I record midi input from piano, I cannot see the recorded midi notes until initial recording has completed. Is there a way to "comp" a track, and see the midi appear as each note is depressed on the keyboard? I've seen a video where audio shows immediately, but I've not seen an example where midi appears immediately. Ref Waveform 11.5.18 free version
