Hello, just installed version 16.02 on a new Xubuntu 22.04 system (i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16GB RAM) using wine-staging 7.20 and yabridge 5.02, all running inside the Linux version of Bitwig 4.4.3, and it works fine so far with the handful of plugins I've tried, while looking to see where to put the darn MCompleteBundle license file :)

Cheers.

UPDATE : Looks like once a plugin is validated online, the rest of the plugins are validated too, according to the license held. Too excited yesterday with the new install going on w/o any problems at all, and trying some of the plugins, that I did not notice that in small letters the MCompleteBundle was mentioned.

Fantastic news!! Thanks for reporting! :)

It works perfectly even in Fedora (as opposed to Vital synth which, although Linux native, doesn't work in Fedora)

I’ve used Vital in Fedora, I’m quite sure about it. Where did you get your binaries?

I do not know Vital. So after reading the above I took a quick look. It's a bit strange (it's a /deb package requiring root privileges) but it installed itself as a stand-alone app in :

% which Vital
/usr/bin/Vital

Which means totally out of Bitwig's search path for plugins.

I took for granted that it would be a plugin, but it's not. So I must conclude that I have better things to do. I'll take another look when the people creating this synth will decide to make it a plugin.

It is a plugin. If it isn’t showing up, you need to tell your DAW where to find the files—the plugin path.

It's obviously a plugin. I used it when I was on Mint and Pop os, so yes, deb.
Now on Fedora, after copyied files from the deb package, it doesn't work.
I lost my 60€, but that's not a bit deal, because I then discovered u-he Zebra !
Still, Melda stuff works very well on Linux.

I stand corrected. The only Vital that showed up was the one in /usr/bin which is of course not a plugin. Then I remembered something from a loong time ago, that there are Linux system vst locations. Those, like Vital, need root access to install themselves.

And sure enough, Bitwig has those system vst paths built-in, although for years I haven't looked into these locations. As far as I'm concerned, apart from the DAWs, everything else added in music making is user space and that includes all of u-he native Linux synths for instance, as well as Tracktion Biotek 1 and 2, Loomer, AuburnSounds, and other Linux plugins.

So I took a shot at Vital but unfortunately, for other reasons this time, I have better things to do and learn, MSF being one of them on the synth front. The latest Rob Papen Blue3 is another one that runs fine in Linux.

I'd say that as far as free synths are concerned, Fathom is much better on many points than Vital.

This said, it might be a matter of time for Vital development to reach some strong points. It's all in the hands of the developers to take it somewhere.

Or becomes a well-known sought-after drummer.

What happened here is that the Vital app installed from the deb package, once executed will establish an online contact and download stuff. After running that online contact the Vital command will morph itself into a standalone synth. Maybe that plays a role in the whole thing, I don't know.

If someone tried it, does MautoAlign works fine on native Linux DAWs ?

Here it doesn't, i tried on Ardour 7.2 and REAPER. Ii need to use the Windows version of REAPER through WINE and then export the files to reimport them in Ardour after.

Post

I haven't used MAutoAlign but learned an important thing recently with installing everything audio on a new Xubuntu 22.04 system, Bitwig 4.4.6, and using Yabridge for the first time : communication between plugins. It didn't work previously with linvst and the VST versions of plugins. Now with VST3 plugins can share resources. They can also be made part of a group sharing resources. Since MAutoAlign is one of those plugins that need to communicate with other instances of the same plugin on different tracks, this could be where the problem is.

I tried the communication between plugins with some Voxengo VST3 plugins and it works all right 'out of the box', no need to configure anything.
