I generally try to save my own versions of things in separate directories whenever I can to avoid issues when upgrading, migrating, etc. For instance, I do this with all the IR's rather than storing them in Melda's provided folder.
To that end, I've spent quite a while developing some presets. Is it possible to save presets to my own folder somewhere else where I know it won't accidentally get deleted, and can come back to it if I accidentally overwrite something? I'd also like to save a copy with project folders like I save all other project assets.
I'm not seeing a way to choose something outside of the root option in presets save panel.

You can create your own folders within the Preset Browser (mine are all under a "DarkStar" folder), then periodically Export those folders to to any location you want (not to a cloud, though).

You can´t what it is terrible. And Vojtech refuses to let the user have his own folder (for example in window documents folder).
The preset manager is fine except that it does not let you add user folder and you can not even move folders (easily).
I made a feature request of a user folder being added to facilitate migration and backups but it was refused:
