In everything I've been reading, it appears that midi tracks are also supposed to have comp tracks/take lanes but in actuality, they aren't there.
When I enable loop record mode and record a midi track, each iteration just writes to the midi track, rather than creating a new midi track/clip. When done, there is no "+" sign to expand the take lanes / comp tracks, unlike an audio track.
Is there another way to get this done for midi tracks? Or is this a missing feature?
Midi Comp Tracks?

No, they definitely do.
You don't indicate what version you're using, but assuming it's 11 or 12, make sure you do the following:
1. Assign your MIDI controller to the track's input.
2. Arm it to record.
3. Set your input marker and output marker where you want the loop to begin and end.
4. Turn LOOP on.
5. Begin recording.
When you stop, you should see your MIDI clips as a single clip, with a + indicator as you expect in the lower right corner.

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.
