Someone requested I do a video on MSpectraldynamics and how to use it to improve your mixes. For me MSD is a bit of a secret weapon I can use to balance my mixes, but you can use it on individual instruments as well. In this video I show how you can use it with downwards and upwards compression as well as expansion.

I think you have missed major functionality here, you don't need to crack out the manual curve editing. You need to use the ratio knob to get access to upward compression.
The arrow button determines upward or downward processing. The ratio determines compression or expansion.
The ratio control on the far left goes into expansion when you move it left past 1:1 ratio. Normally people use downward compression, so don't notice this. In other words, if the first number in ratio is above 1 then you're compressing. This MAY be reversed when in upwards mode, I can't recall and am not at my computer, but it's easy to figure out.
So this way you can use the two curve controls (there are two), with one for downward compression and one for upward compression. This avoids the messy manual curve editing you show in the video, which is very very powerful but not easy to control.
