Is Equator 2 worth it? And is it safe to buy it from splice.com?

Splice offers a 3-day trial, so I downloaded both Pigments4 and Equator2 for free. And yes, Equator2's sounds are much more acoustic-like out of the box. They usually have very crazy y-axis variations (probably designed for Seaboard?), but once I adjust the curve they sound very nice. I can't say the same for Pigments.

The VST itself is also quite buggy. Sometimes presets don't load and I have to restart it.

But generally speaking, I do think Equator2's default presets sound better than Pigments4 and SurgeXT.

pigments 4 & equator 2are SO different, it seems pointless to compare them. so what works for you depends on your wants & needs (as always, of course).

i own both, but rarely use pigments. i find it fun to play with, but rarely fit it into a project. i use EQ2 just for what it does well ('damaged' acoustic sounds); damaged in a good way, with lots of motion, quirks, space....
