Heya everybody,

i just stumbled over toneboosters morphit.
Morphit would support all my headphones at least. Price is right. ($39 / is this regular ? )
https://www.toneboosters.com/tb_morphit ... headphones

Is this any good vs. contenders ?
What´s the ones i should check ? your recommendations ?
( i did not find any threads / links are welcome)

I do not produce as such ! My needs might vary from regular "production needs".
A main aim would be the whole stereo impression thing, HPs vs. speakers in the room.
Also to get a more realistic "Reverb" feel on cans.
Finally, my room is NOT treated ! so......

As far i understand do such tools create some L-R crossfeed to create a better "room-feel" ? the whole spatial thing triggers me the most vs. looking at such a tool.
Also Basscorrection.
for example is my HiFiman sundara very dependend on how loud i listen vs. how the Bass comes thru. A correction for that would be very welcome ( for example per A/B setting)

There is a great FREE tool for crossfeed on headphones. Configurable enough, but very simple and doing it's job. Along with morphit it's all you would need for HP correction. It's claled BS2BR (at least in my plugin folder).

Sonarworks Reference has advantage over morphit since it can be used systemwide, which helps to learn your headphones when you also listen to music casually with correction enabled. But beside that I think morphit will be cool.

Try to stay away from Hornet VHS, it souds awful and is not really correcting to be flat. Or if you want to use it, make sure to compare it with competitors.

Morphit and Sonarworks just correct the frequency response of your headphones to something flat

For room emulation you need something like Waves NX, Dsoniq Realphones for budget options or if you want the best and not on a budget just get Slate VSX as nothing else compares to that

i begin to understand: its different things........

And i want mostly the ambience correction.
Realphones might be in my budget...... / Slate VSX is over my budget for now.
Yet, i see: it gets a good votes. They even rave about. Is this so goo for real ?
...might have to rethink my budget if its really so good, haha.
Thank you !

VSX is one of those rare instances where the hype is justified, I don't like to fanboy stuff but it's seriously the best on the market for emulating rooms in headphones

On a Mac, if you just want EQ compensation for your specific cans, system-wide, Rogue Amoeba's SoundSource has a variety of open profiles that are loadable. I'm not sure if Morphit gives any more than that level of compensation, but been meaning to properly compare the two.

I got the Waves Nx Germano so I could QC the different outputs of a 5.1 mix on headphones (mostly just to make sure they landed in the proper order on a DCP), and I couldn't imagine using it system-wide, but I definitely could hear what it did. Can't say the same for Goodhertz CanOpener, which felt like a placebo to me. Also, Sknote has MixingRoom which seems more overlapping Waves Nx than anything else.

Whatever you go with, take it for a demo, and best to compare with the alternatives during your demo, so you can make an informed decision.

Are there any hardware headphones with compensation built in? That's ideally what I'd like. Rather than requiring software to be running. It seems like it would be relatively for a manufacturer to do, just that no one has.

I have been running Morphit on my system wide mac output for a few years now and its been great. You can run it through something like Bluecat Patchwork or even better Rogue Amoeba SoundSource. I like SoundSource as its a quick setup and it gives you a lot of other cool features.

I use this setup for my job which is in Game Sound Design, and for personal mixing and mastering. The demo is full featured and unlimited with Morphit so its definitely worth giving it a shot. As a matter of fact, everything from Toneboosters is worth trying / buying :).

You can see how i run my system audio.

So you think Morphit adds something beyond the open source eq profiles that SoundSource accesses? Can you describe it? I will demo, but curious what it gives beyond a headphone Eq profile.

Admittedly i didn't know SoundSource had added headphone EQ profiles until i saw this thread. That said i did just test it out and it appears to be "fixed". As in its on / off and doesn't have a mix amount. Morphit gives you the ability to control how much of the correction you want, has a built in limiter and a trim knob (as the eq curves can change the output volume). It also gives you the ability to match your headphones to any other model if you are interested.

I did just compare Morphits curve for the headphones i use to Soundsources and they sound very close at 100%. Soundsource doesn't provide any sort of visual of what is happening curve wise (from what i can tell) so that conclusion was strictly from listening.

Ill continue to use Morphit as i find the sweet spot not to be at a 100% match. I run my Shures at 60% and Sennheisers at 65%. That amount for me seems to translate well when mixing and listening to the mix in different environments.

Hornet have a headphone correction as well.

Hi, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with our VHS, which headphone model are you using? Also keep in mind that we don't aim to a flat response but to the Harman over ear one.
