Any way to automatically 'best fit' the BPM to an imported wav recording?

I'm fairly new to TW. Is there a way to automatically 'best fit' the BPM (and tempo track) to an imported wav recording? I'm guessing this might be feasible, when most of the highest waveform peaks occur on (or close to) downbeats. Thank you.

I think your question relates to beat mapping. If you are using Waveform Pro you should use the Groove Doctor feature which includes automatic beat mapping as one of it's features. There are some good videos on the Tracktion website that explain how to use it.
If you have the free version, I'm afraid you have to do it manually i.e. add a tempo marker at the end of each phrase or bar to match the grid to the actual beat of the audio clip

Thank you. I did briefly look into beat mapping, but came away with the impression that you end up with a varying tempo. Was I right? I actually want to keep the tempo constant, and just best-fit it to the constant tempo on the recording. Yes, it can be done manually; I just was hoping to save some time, as I need to do it quite often.Dark Lane wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:08 am I think your question relates to beat mapping. You are right that if the tempo changes (as would happen in a recorded audio file where the musician wasn't playing to a click) you will get regular tempo markers in the map. But if your recording is consistently in time, it will probably only add a handful of markers and you can always delete any you consider to be superfluous
