I'm using bitwig with MSoundFactory and many of the presets are unplayable because they have huge DSP spikes. This is an empty bitwig project on a very powerful M1 ultra Mac Studio.

Not all presets have this issue.

Anyone else using MSoundFactory and bitwig 5 on mac with no problem?

Actually it is reproducible as crackling and DSP overloading in Reaper and it's specific to certain patches having certain CPU intensive reverbs on them, and may be specific to the sample rate of the DAW.

I posted one to the preset exchange online as LOST IN SPACE (CPU HEAVY TEST).

I would love to know if that patch causes other people with empty DAW projects and just one MSoundFactory instance to experience DSP overload situation within a single instance of MSoundFactory, and with polyphony counts less than 8 notes simultaneously played.

For me it only takes about a polyphony of about 6 notes at once, including tails overlapping, to see it overload my rather powerful mac Studio m1.

I can run 30 diva instances on this, but msoundfactory dies with one instance?

It happens less with MULITICORE off, and very little if multicore is off and sample rate is 48 or 44.1, which is concerning to me.

I'm using 128 block size at 96 khz in my daw. this does not cause problems for me with pigments or diva. Perhaps the thread latency in the multicore mode of MSoundFactory is incompatible with low latency block sizes? Or with 96 khz sample rates?

Important info - MSoundFactory is NOT Diva. You can stack virtually any number of oscillators and other generators in there. So it depends on the settings (the instrument). Personally I'd recommend using 48kHz sampling rate (96 doesn't seem to have any improvement, but it may be more like a philosophical question). Anyways also try disabling the multi-core (button in the title). Unfortunately on macOS the situation is just rather unpredictable. Every computer seems to be different in there, every DAW, every plugin... But the most likely reason is just that you are using a too complex instrument.
