Release noises heard even when slider is at all the way to 0,
the only workaround I found so far is to go into instrument editor and delete the "effects" zones.

Assuming it's the Evolution libraries you're talking about, have you tried turning the "Auto fret noise volume" slider all the way down to 0%? That's the volume of the fretting position change sounds that happen around half a second after playing notes outside the current fretting position, simulating the player returning to that position on the fretboard.

Because the sounds go away when deleting the "effects" zones, I suspect that's actually the sound you're trying to remove and not the release samples themselves, which are located in other groups.
