loading a track in Cubase results in horrible noise from Mdrummer

I've Cubase Artist 10 - Windows 10 - been running Mdrummer without problems on a few tracks - then yesterday I load a song which I have already an Mdrummer track - the song isn't playing but there's a horrible noise coming from the Mdrummer track. If I remove the track from the song the noise stops. I've tried removing all FX from the track - makes no difference. I've saved the song without the Mdrummer track and re-done the Mdrummer track which works fine until I save the song and reload it and straight away the horrible noise. I've found if I open Mdrummer and click on the drumkit I'm using the noise stops, until I reload the song later.
Any ideas?

Please send us a project. We don't have Cubase Artist though, but I assume it would be the same for the full version. I'd also recommend trying a different host (e.g. Reaper), considering I have no reports like this, I assume it's something fishy in Cubase.
