Hello everybody!
I'm currently facing a serious issue regarding scanning for plugins in waveform free.
I have all plugins stored in a single file in "Program Files"
Once, only once, I was able to download a plug-in into the program
Now, I can't :(
It keeps telling me that I "Faced a fatal error when validating this file"
What happened?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks!

Hi!
Of all the variety and abundance of errors, I did not have such errors. And because of Waveform's errors, here on the forum, I sometimes scream :) Waveform always surprises. But, if you got this error, then most likely you did something in the system, installed some programs, deleted some programs, and perhaps changed/deleted/moved some libraries. Try reinstalling Waveform (after saving/copying the projects), specifying the location of the plugins again, manually transferring the plugin to Waveform, removing the broken plugin from the Waveform library and installing it again. Remember what you did and try different options.

Yeah, you have to be careful with plugins. Some of the older/simpler ones just have a .dll file with no external references; and these can be put into a single folder (I assumed you meant folder and not file?). Those should scan/operate normally; just remember that the folder you put them into, must be in the "scan folder list" in Waveform. If you MOVE them, they won't be found; have to be rescanned; and possibly have dead links to them.

plugins that are larger and need an installer really can't be played with. You install them, and hopefully they have chosen a "standard" folder to create their internal folders into. like c:\program files\common files\vst3 where you will find .vst3 files and probably some folders where their "extra" files, samples, settings, patches, etc. Unless the install instructions from the vst creater say so, don't go moving these around. If you DO, they will be incomplete, not be found, etc. and probably NOT validate within Waveform.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties but you're not giving us anywhere near enough information to help and what little you're telling us doesn't make much sense.

Which plugin or plugins are you having troubles with? There are thousands of plugins out there; different bit depths; different versions; different codebases... So many things are possible. Please narrow it down.

Did you really somehow concatenate all your plugins into a single file?

What does "download a plug-in into the program" mean?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Like I wrote in your other post on the subject:

Or at least I haven't found one that doesn't work yet. I only have my favorites in my plugin list but again none of them has failed to load or work. Even on this system which has every freebie and demo/beta known to man on it has not had any issues with plugins.....

The issue reported in this thread seems more like a plugin organization/installation error on the OP's part. (notice his join date/post count)

Not a good idea especially if you have aggressive anti-ransomware settings. That's why I oppose the default VST3/CLAP file locations.

Also not a good idea to move plugin .dlls or .vst3 files to a new location after they've been installed. You can break links to resource files or copy protection.

What plugins specifically are you trying to use?

Go to Settings/File Locations/Plugins and make sure the path to your VST plugins is being scanned.

And this has to be asked, nothing personal. But you're not using cracked or warez plugins are you?
