Can't open projects in waveform 12

Hi. Until recently, everything was fine. I could open any project I pleased. However, now none of them will work for me. When I click to open them, it will open the project so I can see the plugins and the clips, however the waveforms are missing from the clips and then windows says, 'waveform is not responding' (or, alternatively, it will say 'not responding' but on the loading screen when opening a project). This affects all projects. Projects will open fine on my really old laptop on the same waveform version, but not my desktop recently. I can make a new project and it will work fine (with lots of clips, plugins etc.) but when I want to work on it the next day it just doesn't open properly. Can someone help me to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
