About 5 years ago I was contacted by a Vanjac about improvements made to Aodix, After recently checking he had contacted Zafer Kantar who was partnering with Arguru & agreed to release source.

So now Vanjac has an improved fork which seems to fix all that was wrong with Aodix which was what Arguru was working on back in 2007 when his sad & untimely death ensued-

For me testing looking real good for this great piano-roll tracker that's a 'tickless' environment. You can have up to 255 patterns & each can be any length or even a single pattern for whole song if you are monolithic in thought.

Switching between patterns is done via 'pattern calls' which can be a whole pattern to switch to or any segment using markers.

I have tried every combo piano-roll tracker out there & Aodix is the most fluid with ingenious vertical piano roll-

Quantizing can be free or any kinda split including triplets, sextuplets, etc..

Unlike unsightly trackers that open up more note lanes for chords you simply use the same space in Aodix & pound out chords like normal, The extra notes pattern info is simply stacked ontop of each other, easily accessed if needed. Same with Events, MIDI, ETC-

Aodix has no internal Sampler as Arguru reasoned that there were so many VSTi samplers being made no need to 'build-in' another. So Aodix is VSTi-VST ONLY & ASIO ONLY.

This is Vanjac's Aodix 'Enhanced Version' as you see on the titlebar. Skin is from the long-defunked Audiobolics site-

Piano Roll Sector can be minimized down to one octave or dragged out this far-

Hookups are machine style which is easy & simple to comprehend-

And that's just the highlights, If you are looking for a simpler & less stagnant method of composition as opposed to Renoise here it is, plus it's completely free. The concept of it is sound & ingenious.

Wow, loved this tracker for it's unique workflow. I completely forgot about it. Awesome to see updates!
Definitely checking this out later.

Yeah, It was/is great but before you had to render as 32float RAW then convert in Audacity or other & if you did not do it right you'd just get 'noise'. Now it has same 32float but actual WAV render, tested that works well but you have to have a 'stop' marker in the leftmost lane otherwise it won't work (just like original).

Much of the plugin issues are gone, used to be some plugs would load & work but saving song file then reopen it would not find the plugin thus would crash with no chance of recovery this led to having to test every damn plug saving song file & reopen pass/fail make a list.

Some other neato fixes as well, quite useable now in my book.

Here is the wayback snapshot to download the Spirit Canyon Audio Live Pack which is a buncha stubby mixers, meters, sliders that work well inside Aodix

Here's Arguru's Aodix Site as of early 2007 He was just licensing DirectWave to Image-Line-

I'm having a blast to the past with this.

For those who have never used Aodix, to add a stop marker it's L CTRL and Double Click on the leftmost part of the arrangement window.

Nice skin! Do you know if it's possible for Vanjac to include it in the skins folder?

The only other thing I would add is a metronome for live recording.
In the meantime I'm using this:

connected to a channel of a Spirit Canyon mixer.

Happy you are digging into Aodix-

Well, I did send the skins to Vanjac when we discussed Aodix some years ago as he had asked for them so I assume he still has 'em I haven't communicated with him since then.

But here is a copy of my skins folder that has all 4 of the Audiobolics skins in it-

OR

So there you go on that & yes, a metronome would be good as well.

Here's another mixer, haven't tested yet-

Thank you! And now to go DL Shortcircuit 2.

OK then...

Have all the Aodix Skins from the long defunct Audiobolics site up on archive.org...

Also added many stubby mixers & VU meters, busses as well as the freeware version of Transposer which is a text editor for musicians kinda handy to use with Aodix & others too...

I would love to see more tracker development in general these days. I love my Polyend and wish there was a similar desktop software for macOS.

Cool, Yes agreed... But many are turned off by Trackers... I have seen written "I can't handle that matrix code garbage flying past!"... In reality a Tracker is just a step recorder with detailed digital readout... Aodix should be even more appealing with it's ingenious vertical piano roll...

One can make just as good a music in them I still don't understand the term 'Tracker Music' as any genre can be made in them...

Shoot I made this Jazz tune in old AXS that was ported from DOS-

So I think also that there's an assumption that you can only make 'Tracker Music' on a Tracker. Even many Tracker-Types keep saying this I wish they would stop...
