Controlling lights on softstep

I am looking to make a simple 8 macro script for the softstep. The way I understand to control the lights on the softstep is to send midi notes to it. Is that possible to do through a script?

100% that is possible. i strongly recommend watching, taking notes and practicing with the moss tutorial series on the Bitwig API. viewtopic.php?t=515602

You can probably do most of what you need in JavaScript although if you can do Java the experience is miles better.
