Random question, when I use Mulab on my macbookpro 2019 without the powersupply... my battery decreases faster when using mulab than with other daws, such as flstudio and bitwig... has anyone else had that happen? just checking thx

My guess is it might have something to do with how MuLab uses the CPU compared to other DAWs. Some DAWs constantly switch audio threads on and off as they are required. MuLab doesn't do this.

Check the MuLab CPU meter vs System Process Monitor section here:

Disclaimer: This is just my hunch as to what might be the reason for the differing battery consumption you are seeing. I could well be wrong.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, that's indeed the most probable reason.

I have found using Mulab plugin inside Reaper is more efficient than the app. Probably for the same reason above. Could be a workaround if you have the plugin. Once inside the plugin it is virtually the same as the app.

You could reduce multi-core processing in MuLab.
That will make it more friendly for your laptop battery.

No problem. Out of interest, how much less battery time do you get using MuLab compared to the other daws? I did a crude test using my smart meter in house display to compare power consumption between MuLab with Reaper, playing the same loop/synths etc. Reaper used slightly less power, but negligible.

not quite sure as I haven't measured it thoroughly... but it was noticeable.
Starting at 100%, after one to three minutes it would drop a percent or two. Roughly, after 15mins or so I would be down almost 10%.

thats with me using one or two instances of Serum (not a heavy patch) and a drum synth I like TalDrums. felt like I was against the clock.

I'm gonna try reducing threads as suggested to see if that helps.
thx
