Just built a new (Windows based) DAW over the last several weeks and I am concluding the VST instruments and plugin installs.
This new DAW is be VST3 only and I lean on NI Komplete Kontrol (NKS) heavily for my composition.
As far as the U-he family goes - Diva 1.4.6 (VST3) loads normally in Komplete Kontrol 2.9.6 - but Zebra 2 (2.9.3) does not. I am getting the old "Zebra2 could not be loaded" message in KK. My assumption is that Zebra2 needs it's VST2 to do its thing in Komplete Kontrol?
Ideally - I really do not want to have to revert back to scanning a truckload of VST2s - just to bring this one plugin into the Komplete Kontrol world.
I "might" be able to get around this by doing some "very" creative symbolic links - but I would rather not if at all possible.
Also thinking about Podoski - which I am assuming may need a VST2 install as well?
Can anyone give me a quick status on U-he VST2/VST3 support for NKS/Komplete Kontrol?
Cheers!

Only Diva currently supports NKS2 based on VST3. Most other (if not all) NKS ready plug-ins from us should follow loosely throughout the year, as schedule permits.
That said, afaik the VST3 versions of all other plug-ins should at least load from NKS1 presets. If not, please contact support at u-he dot com

Thanks for the update.Urs wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:55 pm Only Diva currently supports NKS2 based on VST3. Most other (if not all) NKS ready plug-ins from us should follow loosely throughout the year, as schedule permits.

To be clear- not concerned at all with "NKS2". I am using the original NKS format with my Komplete Kontrol S61 MKII and KK v2.9.6
In my testing - Diva 1.4.6 (VST3) works perfectly. I only have the VST3 installed, and it comes up as it should (previews and all) in KK.
For Zebra2 - again I only installed the VST3 and oddly the presets work on my S61 - and even the previews work too - but when I go to actually load the plugin via the S61 - I get the error as above. It appears to me that the Zebra VST3 is not NKS compatible and will not load in KK v2.9.6
Have not tried Podolski yet - but I will assume it too will behave like Zebra does.

So I have no idea how KK works in that respect, you might still get better answers from our support (or NI's).
All I know is, we went through hoops to make our NKS ready plug-ins open as VST3 on Apple Silicon when that was the only option NI offered. Thus I guess this is why the presets open the VST3 versions. As for opening VST3 directly, many things might have changed since. Either NI or our support team may know more about this.

Completed my testing and now confirmed that Zebra2 (v2.9.3) (and Dark Zebra2) require VST2 plugins to be seen Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 in order to use standard NKS intergration.Urs wrote: Sat Feb 03, 2024 5:24 pm All I know is, we went through hoops to make our NKS ready plug-ins open as VST3 on Apple Silicon when that was the only option NI offered. As I mentioned - Diva 1.4.6 works perfect using ONLY the VST3 plugin.
Hoping that Zebra2 will be updated in the future to use only VST3 plugins for NKS 1 integration.
