Informal survey as to what people are using:
Do you already own a Novation Launchpad Mini/X/Pro or AKAI APC or other?
If you are thinking of buying one, which one are you most likely to buy?

Would it be possible to use a MIDI note on/off event to trigger clips? A lot of MIDI keyboards have a limited selection of buttons but often banks of pads that could be used as a clip launcher.
Waveform 13; Win10 desktop/8 Gig; Win11 Laptop; MPK261; VFX+disfunctional ESQ-1

Yes, that will be possible through custom control surface mapping.Peter Widdicombe wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:08 pm Would it be possible to use a MIDI note on/off event to trigger clips? Maschine Jam. It's old but still an awesome clip launcher. Tracktion Waveform 13 is looking better than any DAW on the market - cannot wait for it to launch. Nothing better than some eye candy to get you in the groove. I can hopefully move on from Maschine Software now, if the Maschine Jam will be supported... Pretty please consider it...

That's all a Launchpad or whatever is actually doing anyway.Peter Widdicombe wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:08 pm Would it be possible to use a MIDI note on/off event to trigger clips?
An idiot on Set Theory:

With Launchpad, there will be tighter integration with Waveform. Pads will light up to be the same colour as the clip they are controlling. They will blink when play/stop/record is queued etc. There is a mixer mode to control levels, pan, mute, solo, etc.whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Feb 09, 2024 4:04 pmThat's all a Launchpad or whatever is actually doing anyway.Peter Widdicombe wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:08 pm Would it be possible to use a MIDI note on/off event to trigger clips?
If you use the MIDI mapping then it will just be buttons launch clip.
That said, anybody can write a tighter controller integration if they know Javascript. I've been meaning to write a tutorial. Hopefully the community can help with this for some older out of production hardware.

No. No interest in clips, either.
