I most enjoy listening to music when I drive and at bedtime.

A. I bought this bed iPad holder from Amazon. Had to modify it to work right.
This base is plastic and I fear it will eventually break. I will then buy a metal base from eBay.

B. The iPad Air gen3 has both a headphone jack and is capable of lossless audio. I will subscribe to Apple Music primarily because it has a classical music app. I hope to discover new music. I hope it will have access to Musical Starstreams and Hearts of Space.

C. I added a two inch touch switch that controls the night light.
I glued a tiny magnet to my reading glasses. I attached a small steel plate on the holder to store the glasses and can easily be retrieved and put over my ears.

Questions:
1. What is the best way to control the volume by touching the monitor?
2. It is ok to have the iPad constantly charging?
3. I plan to get two mini speakers and a subwoofer combo. Please make suggestions. Now have two Logitech speakers which need to be replaced.
4. Plan to get headphones. Do not need noise canceling. Does noise canceling degrade the audio quality? Now using Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm. Suggest below $300.

The easiest setup was hands-free using an Amazon Echo, but....

Currently, I am adding WiiM modules to the home. These are a great for lossless streaming. https://www.wiimhome.com

I have a WiiM Amp for a small setup for the turntable, connected to Dali Spector (version 1) bookshelf speakers. No sub yet, but I'll add one later. These are great sounding small bookshelf speakers (IMO). https://www.dali-speakers.com/en/produc ... spektor-2/

I use Qobuz for streaming, on the WiiM amp, and WiiM Pro. This is lossless audio via WiFi.

The only downside to the WiiM Amp, and WiiM Pro so far is that there's no analog headphone out unless you buy something extra. I do have one of these, not hooked up: https://apos.audio/collections/brand-sp ... dphone-amp

By the way... Qobuz has a large classical library. If you're interested in lossless, then definitely check it out. There's no Qobuz app for Amazon devices, but not a problem with WiiM devices, or using the apps available for mobile devices.

I checked your Musical Starstreams and it seems you don't need a subscription to Apple Music. It's available on iHeart Radio and iTunes (via the PodCast app).

iPhone with wav files or high bitrate mp3 and Sony MX-3000, noise canceling phones. There's a mini bookshelf system as well, but rarely gets used.

Not sure how WiiM can help my set up.

I understand that Apple Music has lossless audio without and extra fee. I will be subscribing to it soon.

I had briefly looked at Qobuz but decided in favor of Apple Music as it has a wider music selection. But I can change my mind.

Had read that iPad Air gen3 has the lossless capability. I cannot find in preferences to select lossless audio. Perhaps I need to have Apple Music installed for the lossless option to be available?

The mini speakers I am lookin to possibly purchase are smaller than 7"x7"x7". A subwoofer will be required in the bundle. The mini speakers will be about 28" for the each ear.

I know that Hearts of Space and Musical Starstreams can be subscribed to. My hope id that they are included in the Apple Music subscription package. This is not a deal breaker.

Don't get any of those headphones that beam signal right through your skull to the other earpiece... These will fry your brain a drop at a time. In fact use no wireless anything. In my house exists no Why-Fry, everything got a cable or cord>>>

I have a cheap amazon echo but it takes too long to charge up!

Everything you need to know about Apple Music Lossless.

I had done my research before purchasing the iPad Air gen 3. iOS 17.2.
Thanks for the info on the link you posted but had read that on several occasions.

There is no “Audio Quality to tap on.
If “Cellular Streaming” is turned on, under Audio I get to choose between High Efficiency or High Quality.
I select High Quality (AAC 256 kbps)

I will not be Cellular Streaming but will be connect my Wi-Fi.

Apple devices that will play Lossless Audio
https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/05 ... t-you-need “Apple devices will play the new Dolby Atmos or Lossless Audio from their built-in speakers”. Apparently I assumed that my iPad Air gen3 will play lossless through the headphone jack. That is the DAC to the headphones had lossless capability. Perhaps I need to subscribe to Apple Music to enable the lossless audio to the headphone jack?

It should show up after you've subscribed. Just checked on an iPad with a different Apple ID than mine and without Apple Music subscription. Setting doesn't show up there.

I have the Apple Music subscription running on my iPad Air Gen 2 with max. iPadOS 15. It works.

I can even enable (what I have) lossless streaming over WLAN.

If WLAN and Wi-Fi are the same then this problem should be solved, right?

Thanks for the help.
Will subtribe soon to Apple music and hope for the best.

I went to Best Buy. messed with an iPad 10.2" gen9 and there was no lossless available. Also it was not subscribed to Apple Music.

I just have my Android phone play Klause Weise on YT through a T&G TG-117 bluetooth speaker. Sounds very nice.

https://www.kaliaudio.com/multimedia-in ... dependence make excellent cheap monitors and I wil be buying some this year I think - I want to set up 5.1 system and listen to field recordings and/or music for sleep

At the moment I listen to a shuffled playlist from my bandcamp purchases on their app. I use another app to turn it off after an hour

I have no need for lossless at all as bandcamp will stream at home at 256k which is more than enough.

I added the Kali Audio - » Multimedia Speakers » IN-UNF
to my possible list. Starting at $599

A local professional gave up his expensive speakers for these $120 sets.

He has three sets. Uses them to mix.
I heard them at his studio and they sound really good to me.
Too bad - A bit too big for my music bedtime setup.
