I've owned a mid-60s Gibson ES-335 that I bought in Phoenix in 1979 for $325.
Adjusted for inflation (using 1 of the many calculators found online) that's equivalent to around $1400 in current dollars.
If I ever had to part with it and got any amount over that, it would be great.
But I bought it to play it, not to store away and take one day on Antiques Roadshow. In other words, it's no where near in perfect condition.
Maybe speculators should remember the meaning of the word...
