DELETE doesn't work

Sometimes, all of a sudden, DELETE doesn't work. I select a clip or a note or whatever, hit the delete key, and nothing happens. Right click and select "Delete", same result, i.e. no result.
Anyone else experiece this? Any clues what's wrong and how I can get it to work when it happens?
Apparently switching to another program/application and then returnung to Waveform reactivates it.

I confirm that absolutely unrelated cases have happened several times. The error is terribly rare, it was not possible to repeat the actions and identify the error even once.

I find that 9 times out of 10 it happens when I have accidentally highlighted an area/region with my cursor...or maybe more like 99/100.

I am not able to help, but I am worried that developers maybe reading this won't find a hint on where to start searching for this bug.
Win 10 or Win 11, Mac (version), Linux (version, desktop environment, wayland, X11), Waveform 13 (which subversion)? Try to be as specific as possible, and always consider to then report the bug by the support form of the Tracktion site, it is in my opinion the best chance to reach out to the developers. This KVR forum appears to mainly be set up for user-to-user communication.
Well, very good that our user-to-user communication discovered this bug to occur for several users, which should be mentioned in the bug report. Maybe also place a link to this thread.
Best wishes!

I believe I've experienced this before. I just chalked it up to user error.

Also, are you sure that the expected task has focus, rather than a VST?
Particularly in multi-monitor systems it's easy to do - I hit spacebar to stop playing with no luck; then realized I had a Piano VST I had been auditioning in another window and had just selected another patch... Now while IN the MIDI editor I would not expect this to happen, though.

I appreciate that, but it's a bit of a hassle to write all that, and I just wanted some feedback from other user's about similar behaviour and fixes. If noone else has similar experiences, I conclude it's me / my system. If many others experience the same, it's worth bringing it up with the developers.talby wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:43 pm I am not able to help, but I am worried that developers maybe reading this won't find a hint on where to start searching for this bug.

I am a new user. This is my introduction to Waveform. I hit delete and it does not delete the selected note. Okay, maybe it doesn't work that way, though every software of every genre works that way. So, I look on the context menu. I right-click the note. There is both a cut and a delete, and neither of them do anything.
The only way I've found to delete notes is to double-click them, which I discovered by accident.
What's happening is I have a region selected in the track list. And that's preventing me from deleting things in the piano roll. It makes no sense. I never would have figured it out without reading this thread.
Once I am interacting with objects in the piano roll, I am clearly working with the piano roll, and not the track list, so that is where delete events should go. This is not a thing that just doesn't work as I thought it should. This is a bug.
