Hello Folks,
from MPluginManager v01.06 we have marked all Melda plugins on v17 as stable. When you start MPluginManager, it will automatically update itself and then update all the packages to the latest version.
Main changes in MPluginManager from last beta:
- Improved style Argon set as default
- Four tabs, with the last one containing all the settings
- Online license redemption support
- Offline installation of plugins, addons, and offline license/subscription activation support
- Fixed all permission issues on macOS
- Improved installation speed
- Various other improvements
Here are a few notes on how to perform an installation on offline computers:
1. On the first machine with an active internet connection, run MPluginManager. In the last Settings tab, under the Offline installation settings panel, click the "Download offline installation data" button. By default, the data is created in the Downloads/MeldaProduction folder, which can be changed. You can choose to download licenses, installers (PC/Mac), and addons (you can select which). When ready, copy the target folder to an external drive.
2. On the target offline machine, install MPluginManager (the installer for both platforms is also optionally included) and run it. MPluginManager will notify you that it's in offline mode at startup, which is also displayed in the caption. Again, in the Settings tab, under the Offline installation settings panel, click the "Load offline installation data" button. This will copy all the necessary package files, activate licenses (if available), and load addons. With this, MPluginManager will be in the same state as if it were online, and it will not be necessary to load the data again at subsequent starts (nor to have the external drive connected), except for future updates as desired by the user.
3. You can now install plugins and addons as desired. The only limitations are the online functions (login, online activation, etc.), which are all disabled in offline mode. You can only install addons you have imported, for other addons you can use the "Install manually/3rd party addons" button on the 2nd tab.

.....::::Old offline installation method::::.....
1. Download the plugin installer along the licence file and copy on an usb drive
2. Install the downloaded file into the offline machine, then drop the license over the plugins.
.................................................................................................................
If you guys think that's an improvement....
I can just hope you will understand how we feel about this change and so to bring back the old installer along the new one.
It shoudn't be so much work i think. What the new manager do, could be automatically done online and to drop so the package as link on your website.
Thanks

A step backwards.
We don't need another "plugin manager" in 2024. It adds nothing but a convoluted offline installation procedure. I'll be sticking with v16, while I seek out alternative plugins that have a simple discrete installer and a serial number/keyfile unlock.

+1
Additionally I strongly suspect that the Manager can't be installed on a 32 bit machine (my internet pc is still 32 bit) not that it matters as I deleted all my melda stuff after reading about this manager. So far I don't miss them

I agree with the others that don't want the manager to be the "only" install option! This is a major step back. It may seem like it makes it simpler to help others, but without a way to "not" rely on the manager, if MeldaProduction goes out of business, there won't be a way to keep using our software. Please provide separate plugin files and simple serial number copy protection! Please remain on our list of developers that don't hassle the honest more than the thieves!
See our thread:
viewtopic.php?t=612966
Here’s the criteria for a plugin (or a plugin company) to be listed:
1. The copy protection must use either a serial number, a keyfile or a per user Watermark.
2. The copy protection must not tie itself to anything. For example, there are now developers claiming they only use serial number copy protection, but then the copy protection ties itself to a particular CPU or other hardware. Another example is having just a serial number, but the software has to download required files from the vendor site in order to run. This is just as bad as challenge/response authentication. The software should not restrict you to using only the one computer. If you buy a new computer, you should be able to use it without dealing with the company further.
3. The software should not require any form of calling home to authenticate or to obtain the plugin. In other words, if a company were to go out of business, you should be able to pull a copy of the software and serial number or keyfile off of your backup drive, and authenticate the software. Be wary of companies using a single installer for their entire lineup of products.
These are the criteria can easily be met, as can be seen by the list of developers who already do so. Please don't make the download manager the only option available!

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

I cant choose an update version that i like or fits for my computer bc of auto update. At least The plugin manager needs other menu or option for choosing various previous updates. Auto update limits all of this.
And internet based-automatic app feels like it detects my PC like other computer viruses do. And These days AI companies are invading our privacy, you know. I feel like this is similar to that. I dont feel good about this

Wow, based on what this installer uses. I bet y'all create Melda Productions using the Delphi programming language.
www.remobjects.com
www.innosetup.com
Both of them are used in Delphi.
Although, I'm very curious why your software uses the URL http://www.haysoft.org%1-k ??

Hey everyone, I assure you there is no virus in our software.
MPluginManager is installed on your PC using the Inno Setup installer (https://jrsoftware.org/), where the false positive detection occurs. This installation tool is likely written in Delphi, but our code is purely C/C++.
The installer essentially copies MPluginManager.exe, a few images, and XML files to the target system. It also creates desktop and start menu shortcuts, along with the necessary registry entries for uninstallation. Inno Setup is a common and widely used tool for this purpose.
MPluginManager.exe itself (as of 01.06) has no virus detections on VirusTotal, which you can verify here: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/458 ... ?nocache=1
I have tried creating other extremely simple setups using the latest Inno Setup release (6.3.3), and all exhibit the same false positive issue with one detection out of 75.
Given that only 1 out of 75 security vendors flagged it, this strongly suggests a false positive. Nonetheless, we value our customers, so we will be contacting the Bkav Pro vendor to thoroughly analyze the Inno Setup executable and resolve this issue.
