Soundcraft ui 24 recording

I am using Soundcraft ui24 to record drums and other stuff, signal is coming in and everything is working nicely. When recording stops, there is nothing recorded. No waveform or anything. The red recording line is moving when recording but nothing is saved. I tried at home Audiobox and this time recording is saved. What could be the problem with Soundcraft? It has been working earlier. I am using Waveform 13.

Is the track "armed" - i.e. a big red triangle and not just the little red circle? This is a new "feature" in Waveform that doesn't warn you when no input is selected for recording. Unfortunately this "feature" currently doesn't have an option to disable.

If by that you mean the red pre-clip that shows along the track during recording (which gets replaced by an actual clip after recording stops), then the only way I can think you would have nothing recorded is if you set the Trigger Level on the input device. It's pretty easy to do by mistake.markkure wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 9:56 am The red recording line is moving when recording but nothing is saved.
For each input device you can set a Trigger Level, which means that nothing gets recorded until the input volume hits that level. If you're not needing that functionality it should be set to -INF.
The "red recording line" doesn't show if the track is not armed to record.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

When you are replying, if you scroll down to below the box for typing your message into, there's a bit with two tabs. You may need to click the Full Editor & Preview button to get it to appear. The first tab is Options and the second, which is probably what you need, is Attachments.markkure wrote: Sun Sep 22, 2024 12:49 pm I took a video what is happening but how can I put it here?

Video I made is too long , I have 2 channel audio interface at home and using that recording was successfull. So the problem seems to be that updated Waveform 13 is not working with Soundcraft ui24. I also tried version 12 but it gave message that it does not have access to recording. 12 is working fine too with that 2 channel interface. Soundcraft used to work really well but something has happened and I cant figure it out.

Are you sure that the problem isn't caused by some driver update for the Soundcraft ui24?
Is this audio device still running properly with other DAWs?
By the way, which OS version are you on?

I have not updated Soundcraft at all and I have no chance to try another DAW. I am using Windows 11. Like I said, my other interface is working fine with ui24. It used to work well before with Soundcraft but not anymore. Something has changed but I have no idea what. I sent a message to Tracktion support, lets see what they have to say.

Can't you simply shorten it to the relevant parts? Or take a new one?
Show the part from starting the recording up to when recording is happening for some very few seconds, and then the last second before stopping to record and waiting how the audio waveform is appearing properly drawn in the Clip or not?
It should be visible a full width image of Waveform with the Controls Panel open and with the Track where the Clip is supposed to appear.
Even a single screenshot during the recording might help us to help you!

I can try. Signal is coming in and when record is on the red line is moving forward, track is armed but when I stop recording nothing is saved on the track. Using another interface waveform is saved like it should. With Soundcraft there is no waveform on the track. How video is going to help? Attachment is limited to 1 MiB,is that 1 megabyte?

1 MiB is roughly 1 MB = 1 megabyte, right. This means that no video can be uploaded, but it is enough for lower resolution screenshots.markkure wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:11 am I can try. Why not uploading the video somewhere else? Tresorit, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc. and sharing the link?
Or simply providing 3 screenshots:
(1) SETTINGS - Audio Devices, so that we can see what is configured there.
(2) The input selector left side of the recording track having opened its context menu, so that we can see what is configured there.
(3) The Controls Panel opened and the Input selector left side of the recording track selected, during recording, so that we can see the details for the Input as shown in the Controls Panel.
Maybe we can help you by seeing some accidentally wrong configuration. Otherwise I am running out of ideas. I am afraid that the Tracktion support won't be able to help you either without such views provided.
This problem sounds so strange, and technically I wouldn't see how this might be dependent on the Waveform app not properly working, if the same function is working with other devices connected, for you and for other users. A configuration problem seems most likely. Also, don't exclude that the Soundcraft audio-interface itself might have become misconfigured or broken. Therefore, try hard to get some other DAW installed and double check the situation there. Even a simple tool like Audacity might be sufficient to show already if the audio-interface troubles.
