What to do? Cannot I slice out a section of a midi clip and glue them back together
keeping sustain pedal in sync when midi editing

Hi, I have played with my piano a midi track into Waveform. When I want to take out a few notes, I need to move all the nots at the right a bit to the left. When doing so, I have no idea how I can simultaneously move the sustain section. I tried both by selecting and deleting the unwanted nodes, and by creation in and out points and deleting: sustain remains unchanged.

So you delete the sustain controller nodes, re-create them, then delete them again? That's a strange thing to do. Even stranger is that after having done that, nothing has changed - the nodes are still where they were to begin.bikelike wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:14 pm I tried both by selecting and deleting the unwanted nodes, and by creation in and out points and deleting: sustain remains unchanged.
Yes, that is exactly what I would recommend doing.bikelike wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:14 pm What to do? Cannot I slice out a section of a midi clip and glue them back together?
BTW, I recommend that you specify which version of Waveform you are using.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Piz Midi Monitor or other is a great tool to find this stuff out...
B0 40 7F Ch.1 CC #64 (Hold Pedal (on/off)), Value: 127
B0 40 00 Ch.1 CC #64 (Hold Pedal (on/off)), Value: 0
Hold pedal default is control channel 64. You can see in the MIDI editor where you can open up another window
In this, add controller 64, which is pedal. If the image works, you can see/drag the "square wave" at the bottom and can edit when you press and release the pedal. Not totally intuitive. Hover over the DOT until it becomes a crosshair, and you can drag left/right. To add, point at one, ^c to copy, place the cursor, and ^v to place a new dot at that point. I think pedal is either 0/off or anytlhing else for pressed. Drag a horizontal section up/down to turn pedal off/on as you wish.
I'm not sure how to get the pedal to "follow" automatically when you add/delete sections, though.

I am a newbie. However I am quite familiar with video editing. In video-editing, video and audio are generally in sync, so when I cut out an amount of image, the very same happens with the audio, unless I choose to unlink them.
What I am looking for is to edit in Waveform 13 in a way that the sustain keeps in synch with the notes I played.
I cannot find any video explaining that, nor a topic addressing it.

I posted my request much more clear, I think.

It's hard to describe things in a way that others understand clearly, and I've found in most cases people leave out important details like Pro or Free, which makes a huge difference. I have to say for myself I'm confused. In some points it sounds like you're opening the MIDI clip, selecting the notes, and moving them. Which definitely won't also move the CC data nodes. In other points it sounds like you're splitting the whole MIDI clip and moving the clips. Which should also move any CC data nodes with the notes unless something else strange is going on.
Since you are familiar with video, maybe you can make a video that shows us what you're doing that isn't doing what you want it to do. Many times with new users they're doing something the experienced users can't even imagine doing.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
