@u-he: Have any of the soundbanks changed? The timestamps are quite recent, and I would like to know if I should re-install them or if that's unnecessary.

Hi Ralf,
it's not super necessary, same presets, same preset names, same folder structure.
For those with more recent timestamps, some of the XY assignments have been reworked and improved.

As this is the last version of the installer to include the VST2 formats of these plugins...
What will occur when any users (whose DAWs don't support IPluginCompatibility) attempt to install the NEXT version of these plugins, which by then will no longer include the VST2 formats?
Will that future installer uninstall any existing VST2 versions from our devices prior to installing the next update? Or will it leave them intact?
I'm asking as I have many older projects which used the VST2 versions of these plugins and as of yet, my DAW FL Studio does not yet support the IPluginCompatibility method of automatic VST2 to VST3 migration.

I think the new u-he installers do first uninstall the previous version, before installing the update though, don't they?seafire wrote: Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:20 pm Installers should never delete anything, only overwrite to update.

I hope you are aware that discontinuing VST2 was not a decision we made - it was made for us. There's a good chance that we are the only ones who take licensing contracts very seriously. Our lawyer double checked with Steinberg's and the conclusion is that supporting VST3 means an obligation to discontinue VST2. It's an uncomfortable fact that concerns all plug-in and host developers. It's painful for us, and painful for all users. It's less painful for users of DAWs and hosts which face the reality by implementing iPluginCompatibility. It works very well wherever hosts support it. Please let your host developers know that iPluginCompatibility is the way forward - for VST. In future hopefully relevant policies are thought out better and more responsibly.

Yeah, I did, multiple times, but Cockos don't seem to want to do it (I've been baying about this since 2022 when they attempted some migration, but apparently it was not IPluginCompatibility...)
(And worse still, it'd probably take them like an hour to do it because they are 10x programmers

To be clear, I exclusively use CLAP formats of u-he plugins for all my current/new projects.
However, I still require VST2 formats for opening many old projects, which used those instead.
I have no objections to this current update being the last version to include VST2 formats in the installer.
I only wish for any subsequent updates not to uninstall the already installed VST2 format of this current release from my device.
Otherwise, it would not be productive for me to install those future updates.

What on earth is "iPluginCompatibility"? (Neither Google nor KVR Search have been friendly to me...Urs wrote: Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:20 pm Please let your host developers know that iPluginCompatibility is the way forward - for VST. I just reinstalled them as the dates had changed, it cleverly creates a backup folder with the old ones in. I just deleted them.ralfrobert wrote: Mon Nov 11, 2024 1:51 pm @u-he: Have any of the soundbanks changed? The new update gives me this warning in Logic Pro 11.01 on MacMini M1 Sonoma:
