I have a piece I was adding a track to, and when the piece "ended" I kept recording on the same track (an audio clip) that went on for 20 minutes. I didn't want to erase it, so just left in place.
Now, if I mute that track and export, the export is a full 20 minutes long, and the last 3/4 of it is dead space - even though the only long clip is muted and isn't present at all. Is there a way (other than deleting the clip) to get an export of the proper length ? The "remove silence" apparently still looks at a muted clip ?
Waveform 13.2.0. Processing audio tracks when muted is NOT selected.
Controlling the length of an export.

Can't you control the length of a render using the out marker? I seem to think that was the preferred way back in the T6 and T7 days. I'm not sure, as I bounce final tracks rather than export...seems to prevent a lot of these oddities.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Yes you can still set the loop markers and check the 'Only render marked region' option. I also render 'in project' using the fake master track method but I have the Auto generate preview files switched on and even that will render to the very last clip, even if muted, leading to some previews with 8 bars of audio and long silence afterwards.

Deleting it from the Edit shouldn't* delete it from the HD or Project. If you want to make sure, though, you could trim the right edge to shorten it and then expand it again any time.
* There is likely a setting somewhere that does delete the file that I am forgetting about, but I definitely have that turned off. Or on. Whichever one doesn't delete the file from the HD.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
