How do I get started using the FREE plugins?

Excuse my ignorance....I downloaded some of the FREE plugins but don't see an icon or programs anywhere to START up a Plugin. I only see a button for the Manager.

They are plugins, they need a host...a DAW like REAPER, Cubase, ProTools, Logic etc...
