Taking inspiration from the other post in this forum i decided somehow to create a video that hopefully helps understand better Melda layout and UI.
For me now is almost perfect (at least for most of their plugins i use), but i get why people can have some weird feeling when coming from plugins made by other companies such Waves, Plugin Alliance, IK and such.
You basically jump from a (usually) simple plugin with a ton of work on the GUI with screw, rust, holes and vintage looks, to a more clean and less eye catching plugin.
Some of them also comes with some "basic" look, so as we eat food, buy cars and stuff with our eyes, same is for plugins, at least for many, and this difference can be perceived as lower quality, hard to use, and so on.
I had some feeling in the past before starting using it, i mean probably the big example is MADEQ and Pro-Q, if you come from the latter, looks like a jump back in the past graphical-wise, while using MADEQ.
But the truth (for my experience at least) is once you understand, and get familiar with it, everything makes so much sense that i can't design something better myself.
This doesn't mean ofc everything is perfect, there are Melda plugins i don't vibe with, there are a ton, so i think is normal.
I created the following video with the hope to help people to watch and use Melda plugins with the perspective i think is helpful to make them clear.
I own and test a ridicoulus ammount of plugins, and ofc as everyone else, i use what i think is the best, and when we talk about mixing and mastering (as you can see in the video) Melda is my go-to.
I don't get payed by Melda as i never got a cent by any company, i just share what i think with the hope to be helpful for the music production community.
Here's the video
People should NOT be AFRAID of MELDA plugins

I used to be a Melda plugins user, but it wasn’t the GUI or features that drove me away. What really put me off was the frequent 50% discounts on select plugins, which significantly devalued them. Coupled with a 20% license transfer fee, this made it almost impossible to sell a Melda plugin second-hand for more than half its price, and then you’d loose another 20% of the full price in the process.
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

I understand your feeling but i think the way to view that situation should be different, or at least that's how i see it.starflakeprj wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:27 pm I used to be a Melda plugins user, but it wasn’t the GUI or features that drove me away. Discounts are part of marketing strategy, and 50% time to time is nice to attract newer customers, this helps them to stay in business.
The most value you get are with bundles though, expecially on black friday or other sales.
Cause even if you get single plugins 50% discounted, you still pay more than picking a bundle.
One important thing is also something i've learned time ago, but sometime i still fail tbh, hey i'm human too
Try plugins before buy, demo is essential, so you can try plugins to see if they fit your workflow and need. Then buy what you think you will costantly use, and so you shudn't need to sell them.
I feel more stupid what other companies does with plugins that costs €300 but are almost always discounted at 30, i mean the reason is the same, marketing, but having that plugin discounted 350 days a year, dunno, doesn't sound smart.
A last but not least consideration. We get infinite free upgrade for plugins with Melda. While with the most, you need to buy vers 2, vers 3 and so on. Who buy vers 2 second hend when vers 3 or 4 is out?
I mean i have pro-q3 and pro-r, wonderful plugins i don't use anymore (maybe just pro-q3 sometimes because MADEQ miss an automatable band pass if i remember well) now newer versions are out, i could maybe sell them for 20€ each, but i bought at an higher price, so it's almost like not being able to sell them anymore, or just it doesn't worth the deal, since having them worth more than 20 bucks
Just m2c ofc, i mean everyone has different way to see things and nothing is wrong, this topic is not objective, but very personal!
