Simple: I got a new, faster SSD just for instrument samples and I want to relocate my MSoundFactory (and MDrummer) samples to the new drive.
I tried just moving the samples and changing the paths in MPluginManager, but still when I load certain instruments in MSoundFactory I get the ERRORS dialog saying that MSoundFactory couldn't find the following resources and to please make sure the resources are properly installed and paths to samples and other resources are set correctly.
Then it says that the engine will now search for the missing files, just in case I moved them manually. (which I did).
It shows the paths where it (apparently) expects to find the files, but the files are already in the locations it lists. When I click on the "find" button and browse to those locations, then everything works, the samples load, but only until I try to use that instrument again. Then I get the same ERRORS dialog asking for help finding the samples that are already in the location where MSF says it can't find them.
How can I tell MSoundFactory that I've moved its samples? Is there a way to get MSoundFactory to remember their location once I've helped it find them?
Is the only solution to download all 60GB of my MSoundFactory samples over again? I'm willing to do that, but it seems wasteful of time and bandwidth. The other sample-based instruments that I use have some way to tell the plug-in where to find the samples in the event that the user has moved them.

You also need to change the path inside MSoundFactory's settings. It's the "Root" path in the "Sampler" section at the bottom left.
I think you need to set it to the path that contains the "MeldaProduction" folder, not the "MeldaProduction" folder itself.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I couldn't get it to work. No matter where I point it, MSF still complained about missing samples in the same locations where the samples were.
I finally just deleted all of it and downloaded them all over again.
I just upgraded my fiber service, so the downloads, including Meldway Grand, took about 10 minutes total. Kudos to MeldaProduction for using a hosting service that can deliver at full bandwidth.
This is way less time than I had already spent trying to do it in a more clever way. Sometimes clever is actually not so clever. I think it would be a nice thing for people who don't enjoy as much bandwidth as I do to be able to do it without downloading the whole thing all over. Perhaps someday.

You can just change the paths in the MPluginManager. Then you need to restart the DAW.

As I said in my first post in this topic, I tried that. It didn't work, for whatever reason.MeldaProduction wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 12:31 pm You can just change the paths in the MPluginManager. Then you need to restart the DAW.
It's probably a fluke that it didn't work on my system, I'm not recommending to others that they not try it. Just saying that I personally had to resort to a complete reinstall, which went quickly and easily.
