The question I have here is more meta:
All the drawing tools are great, but I'm at a loss as to exactly how I would use this? If i have a specific sound in my head, how do I translate that to what I would draw in the OSC editor? Past YouTubers seems to default to "draw a squiggle and see what it sounds like". I would like to be more intentional.
Say I want a "rich sound". What kind of squiggles would make it "rich"? Or I've got something that would be good for bass, but there its not quite there yet - maybe it sounds too "bright", or unclear in some way. What do I draw to fix it?
In other words - Where do I go to learn what to draw to make the sounds in my head come to life?
What to draw?

The youtubers advice is the only one that makes sense. You need years of experience to get a glimpse what effect a little change in the waveform will have. Human categories like „rich“ do not translate well into a waveform unless you train a neural network to your personal understanding of such a term.
Get your hands dirty by starting to draw. You will learn how that translates to th harmonic content of an oscillator sound.
You will need extra tools like filters and envelopes and choruses to turn it into something I would call rich…

I'll assume you are asking about Zebralette 3.wwoodard8 wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 2:24 pm The question I have here is more meta:

I suggest you start by setting the Osc Source to Curve Spectrum. Now the curve you draw will be defining the frequency spectrum. The X axis is frequency and the Y axis is level.
The default curve is a down ramp. One point on the left is at the top and one point on the right is at the bottom. If you were to drag the left most point to the bottom, now there would be no sound because all the frequencies are then at zero level.
Go to the second curve which is a triangle. Play a note and drag the middle point left and right to hear how you are changing the frequency.
Now start experimenting.
