I definitely have this turned OFF:
Settings -> General -> Editing -> Detect tempo of imported audio files
...but it seems to be setting them to on automatically anyways. Can anyone confirm?
Waveform 13.5.8 Auto-Pitch and Auto-Tempo [not actually a problem]

I've done a bit more testing. It only seems to be setting Auto-Tempo if the file it's importing has tempo data in it. And likewise it's only setting Auto-Pitch if there is pitch data.
Some of the files I'm currently working with have that data set. I'm pretty sure it's all wrong, so it becomes obvious pretty quickly. But WAV files with no tempo/pitch data are not set to Auto-Tempo/Pitch, so that's good. I think this is the way it should work, I just need to be aware of whether or not there is junk data in the WAV file. For all the actual loops with that data set correctly I definitely prefer that Waveform automatically set Auto-Tempo on.
I should use Waveform's browser instead of the OS file browser to copy WAV files into an Edit. It shows those details.

Surely there must be consensus by now...
