When I first got MSoundFactory, one of the tutorials said that one could even use another instance of MSoundFactory as a generator and this could be of use for 'note-off' samples to be played at the end of a sound sample. I searched, and enquired, but found nothing more. I've boosted my MeldaProduction plugins recently and have been revisiting the various videos. Astonishing!
I note that instances of MSoundFactory and MXXX can be used in MXXX and so its not such a daft concept, but there seems to be no way of adding an instance of MSoundFactory to MSoundFactory.
My interest is because real instruments such as pianos, guitars, Rhodes keyboards and even saxophones generate a note-off sound such as the dampers in a piano dropping against the strings at the end of a note.
I would like to trigger note-off samples or note-off synthesised sounds at the end of notes and I noticed that MIDI note-off triggering had been added from V 17.05. I cannot find any setting that would do this. Obviously, the sound duration would need to be set in the sound generator since there is no subsequent note-off MIDI message to stop the sound.
Has anyone mastered this?

You have 2 ways to do that:
1. Using a module in Generator matrix:
Right click the module and enable 'Trigger by note-off'.
In this case, the envelope of the note triggered by note-off is under the influence of the Global Envelope.
Code: Select all

2. You can use an entire MSoundFactory, but it has to be loaded in FX matrix, not in Generator matrix.
Same thing: right click MSoundFactory in FX matrix and enable trigger by 'Note off'.
Be aware that this module can´t be in the same matrix lane of the oscillator in Generator matrix, or it will be muted.
Code: Select all

Many thanks for such a quick reply.
I think I will avoid the extra MSoundFactory instance and use generator modules.
Although, a nice 'boing' sound at the end of notes for one of MeldaProduction's piano presets might be fun!
