There seem to be some modulation controls that the OsTIrus doens't have. Phase modulation for example. Are these unique to Viper?

Post

Import wavetables.

Post

Phase modulation = Yamaha style FM.

I would say that Viper has a very very small CPU consumption, what is really nice.
And of course you don´t legally need the hardware as with OsTirus.

Viper FX are different (maybe better) compared to Virus FX.

Virus/OsTiRus has a limited delay time.

Post

And I do like the Viper GUI more.

Post

Yes, I think the gui is better, especially with the snow skin that unfortunately isn't included in the download

Post

Viper has a sequencer mode for the arpeggiator and really good shimmer reverb. It's so good that Adam expanded on it for the free Solaris plugin.

Post

Adam's fx for one. There's already been a discussion about people wanting to add things to the emus and apparently it just can't be done for a whole lot of valid reasons.

Post

I like the GUI more.

I just don't know what the equivalents are in terms of th emodulation options as I said

Post

I would take it over OsTirus for the low cpu alone. Those emulations cause havoc on the cpu. But also prefer the UI and effects. I just wish it was on Mac so I could actually use it.

Viper is my preferred method for Virus-style sound design over OsTIrus for all the reasons lusted above.

I was having FOMO for the two TI2 oscillator modes that are not in Viper - grain complex and formant complex - however after trying them out I don't really see many use cases - you can achieve similar results with more flexibility in Icarus if you need complex oscillator effects.

And Icarus is going to be even better with the 3.2 update!

One more thing viper has is that you can support a great developer with outstanding customer support.

Not on Ryzen 7000 series CPU
